Em 1880 foi fundada por António Alves dos Reis a ourivesaria Reis & Filhos.
Esta loja que se encontra ainda aberta como espaço comercial, construída na esquina da Rua de Santa Catarina com a Rua 31 de Janeiro, ostenta na fachada principal duas deventures (frentes de loja) em ferro fundido que se inscrevem no movimento Arte Nova, como se comprova pelos elementos decorativos que adornam a fachada, em particular o busto feminino do remate superior da moldura de ferro. Estas deventures foram colocadas no edifício em 1905 e foram fabricadas na fundição portuense Companhia Aliança.

This store is still open as commercial space, built on the corner of St. Catherine Street and Rua 31 de Janeiro, the main façade boasts two deventures (storefronts) cast iron falling within the art nouveau movement, as if evidenced by the decorative elements that adorn the facade, in particular the female bust top shot of the iron frame. These deventures were placed in the building in 1905 and were manufactured in Porto Foundry Company Alliance.
